Review: Bellini's
Okay, cards on the table: the primary reason why I dragged my boyfriend to Bellini's is because of Popoy and Basha. That dramatic crying-in-the-rain scene in One More Chance? Love it. Love the movie. In the words of Angelica Panganiban, "Ang ganda ng cinematography!"
I had always wanted to eat here ever since I found out that this is where they shot a lot of scenes from the movie. Also because I'm a big fan of Italian food. And Italian guys (Joey Tribbiani, anyone?). We had complimentary breadsticks (a lot of it...ssh!), carbonara italiana, and spaghetti al cartoccio, with pizza and cake on the side.
Now let's talk about the cake. It was a moist chocolate cake named, rather inappropriately, as Obama Cake. But set aside the racism for a second and enjoy this cake because the explosion of flavor in your mouth is heavenly.
To recap: nice food, nice interior, nice ambience. There was even a live singer, crooning Italian songs (or gibberish --. I can't tell, I don't know Italian). They also give us free wine to pair with the cake. All in all, it was like my boyfie whisked me off to Italy (even though I did the whisking), and I would definitely give it another go.
